    Restoran Makanan Laut River View

As usual on the way back from Sitiwan, we'll make a quick stopover at Pasir Penambang, Kuala Selangor for lunch.

This time we decided to try another restaurant. The minute you take your seat, they serve you with a plate of appetizer, 3 packs of wet towels, a box of tissue, cutlery in hot water, chili sauce, soy sauce, cut chili padi and chopped garlic. Mind you the appetizer (RM1.00) and wet towel (RM0.30 each) are chargeable.

    The verdicts:
    • Tofu soup with crab meat was tasty.
    • Apart from the tofu and crab meat, it has some slices of dried mushrooms.
    • However, on second helping I find the soup getting a bit too salty.

    The verdicts:
    • Their Yam Basket it's not the common traditional style of cooking with savory vegetable mixed. Instead they provide fruits salad with some fried prawns in it.
    • The basket taste ok and has the fluffiness of the yam.
    • The condiments in it doesn't go very well with the basket. As the condiments were too sweet from the fruits mix and mayonnaise.

    Sitiawan Supper - 31 July 2010

Whenever I'm back in Sitiawan, I tend to have craving for this and for that. On Saturday night after dinner, an hour or so later, I had this urge to eat again. Hubby suggested we go for McDonald's. And suddenly it hit me - Kerang Bakar and Satay!!!

There's this popular Satay stall in a Malay food court near Billion Shopping Centre in Taman Samudera Seri Manjung. The last time we were there, we had takeaway of 40 pieces (20 beef & 20 chicken). They get order from 4-5 sticks per customer to 100+ sticks per customer a night. They do catering as well.

This time round, the owner no longer sell beef satay at his stall coz the cost is too high for him and customers not willing to pay RM0.50 a piece for the beef satay!!! However, if there's a catering order, they do provide beef satay.

    The verdicts:
    • The chicken meat was so tender and juicy.
    • It was perfectly grilled and doesn't have the char taste.
    • The peanut sauce was good. Very peanuty.

Next to the satay stall, it's a Kerang Bakar (Grilled Cockles) stall runs by a Malay couple.

    The verdicts:
    • Cockles are big, juicy and sweet.
    • Doesn't have the bloody taste. And you don't see the blood flowing out like those steamed cockles.
    • The sauce provided has peanut, and tasted sweet and sour.
    • I preferred the grilled cockles without sauce.
